Fleet Vehicle Sandblasting

Most new trucks and truck bodies are prepared and sprayed with the most economical solution for the manufacturer to make the equipment aesthetically pleasing.  Very few companies spend the extra money on rust protection and final coatings.   It is very competitive with any business out there,  for truck body manufacturers to spray more durable coatings it too would mean the difference of being an economical solution or being the company with a higher price tier product.

We have the tendency to see most fleet vehicles brought to Ferri Design + Construct tend to go through a 4-5 year life cycle.  We see new bodies and equipment even have 1-2 year duty cycles due to improper maintenance.   Truck bodies used for plowing have even a less of a life cycle.   We aid in in extending the service duty of commercial fleet vehicles and trailers.   Sand blasting the fatigued and worn coatings to white metal allows us to remove any dirt, debris and rust scale.   At this point we consider this a NACE standard of White metal.   All preparation for repairs/ welding and dent removal can take place.  After this process is completed, we recommend our clients to more industrious rest inhibiting primer.   Adding an acid etching primer or a metal bonding primer like Zinc Chromate allows the primer to bond and become part of the sandblasted surface metal.   It will be more resistant to scrapes, scratches and flaking off.  At the same time this product provides an added barrier to keep rust from forming and seeping in through the metal.  Afterwards we also recommend a flat or semi gloss black for ease of touch up.  We ourselves like PPG and Rustoleum products due to the ease of touch up with a spray can.  There are many heavy duty coatings out there but most fleet operators have to operate with a viable budget.  Polyurea is a great product, yet not in every company's budget.

Once this recommended procedure is adhered to, we tend to find that companies will get 6-8+ years of additional service out of their fleet vehicle.    So what does this all mean?

Brand new truck and body can go for $100,000.00.  Whether you are a municipality or a construction company, no one wants to have to take that kind of plunge every 4 years for a truck.    Our services can refurbish your piece of equipment for $2000-4000 with priming and painting.   We give life back to your fleet and keep them on the road to make money for you.
